U-Student were once again racing ahead in the Jim Clark Rally last weekend staged in the beautiful Scottish Borders. The event took place on 31 May & 1st June. U-student continued its sponsorship of the Team Laffey rally team at the event.
Driver Alex Laffey said of the teams results, “We were 13th overall, first in class and best improvement on seeding, happy days! the Jim Clark rally was mega. We finished with a very good result and looking at the points me and co-driver Jack Morton came 9th out of the MSA Asphalt championship runners so we should have some good TV coverage when the Jim Clark is on TV.”
Alex also spoke of his preparation and tactics on the day of the event, “I did a couple of small events with the car when I got it, like Croft, but I got a good run out over Epynt more recently and then a good run on the Manx, and that will stand me well for next weekend, so today is just about more seat time.”
This clearly paid off, one reporter noted that Alex left Kirkcudbright he was beaming with his performance. Alex said, “I learned a lot, it’s all about getting the lines right and carrying more speed.”
This should put the team in excellent spirits for the upcoming ALMC in Dublin on 6th & 7th July and should see the team going from strength to strength.
