Your UCAS Offer’s In – Now Let’s Talk Accommodation

Settling into a new city can feel like a big step, but having somewhere safe, friendly and fully equipped makes a difference.

At U Student, we work hard to create communities, not just places to live. That means events to help you meet people, quiet spaces to study, and teams onsite who genuinely care. Many of our student residents tell us their accommodation played a huge part in helping them feel settled, supported, and at home in their first year.

What Should You Do Next?

Once you’ve accepted your firm choice, don’t wait too long to sort your accommodation. The earlier you start looking, the more options you’ll have – especially if you want an ensuite room or a certain location.

Here’s what we recommend:

Book a viewing. Whether in person or virtual

Start researching now. Don’t just rely on university accommodation pages – private providers like us offer direct bookings.

Think about what matters to you. Your own bathroom? Laundry on site? A short walk to campus? Free resident-only social spaces? Everyone’s priorities are different.

Quick UCAS Tips on Accommodation

UCAS suggests asking yourself three key questions:

Can you see the accommodation before booking?
Most private halls offer online tours or in-person viewings. If you’re heading to an open day, plan time to visit private halls as they won’t usually be part of the official tour.

What kind of place would suit you best?
Big, buzzy halls? A quiet studio? Somewhere you can bring your bike or have your own space? Knowing your preferences helps narrow it down.

What’s your budget?
Look beyond just rent – are bills included? Wi-Fi? Events? Private halls often make budgeting easier with one all-in price.

Questions We’re Asked A Lot

Can I live in private halls in my first year?
Yes! Many of our residents are first-years, and we’re set up to support you as you find your feet.

Do I need to wait for my A-Level results to book?
Nope. You can apply and secure your room once you’ve accepted your offer – just make sure you check the cancellation terms if things change.

Is it okay to stay in private halls after first year?
Absolutely. Lots of our students stay with us for their full time at uni – it’s one less thing to worry about year after year.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

Choosing your uni accommodation is a big moment – but it doesn’t need to be stressful. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels like home, with the added bonus of all-inclusive living and a community that has your back, U Student could be the perfect fit.
